A group of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members went on a raid on the Bangladesh-India border in Chakulia area of Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga. At that time, they saw a person with a plastic bag in the bill. When members of the BGB patrol team challenged the man, he dropped his sack and ran away. Later, eight gold bars were found inside the sack. Its weight is 2 kg 400 g (205 lbs 6 g).
This information was given in a press release sent by BGB on Monday. Members of BGB's Phulbari Border Chowk (BOP) conducted the operation. The BGB said the gold bars were recovered from Chakulia, one kilometer inside Bangladesh, from the main pole No. 6 of the border around 11am on Monday. The market value of the recovered 2 kg 400 g gold is 1 crore 53 lakh 2 thousand 365 rupees. Gold bars were being smuggled from Bangladesh to India. At the time of writing, a case was being prepared at Damurhuda Model Police Station with the gold bars deposited in the Chuadanga treasury.

A special patrol team led by Director Mohammad Khalequzzaman and Assistant Director Sheikh Mohammad Imran Ali and Fulbari BOP Commander Naib Subedar Mostafizur Rahman conducted the operation. During the operation, a man with a plastic bag was spotted in Chakulia Beel, one kilometer away from the main pole No. 6 of the border. When members of the BGB patrol team challenged the man, he dropped his sack and ran away. A search of the bag later turned up eight gold bars.
Lt. Colonel Mohammad Khalequzzaman said preparations were underway to deposit the recovered gold bars in the Chuadanga treasury. A case will be filed at Damurhuda Model Police Station in this incident.
